Winning Aces Shut ut Carnfzi 0 Peak Season The 1971 Golden Aces footballers compiled a winning season of five victories, three defeats and one tie. This strong gridiron ag- gregation had several outstanding accomplishments. After surging to four victories, Coach Larry Davis' chargers met a defeat at the hands of the Salem Wildcats. It was at this point in the season that the Aces proved their mettle against their Homecoming op- ponents, the Carmi Bulldogs. On this occasion the Aces played superb defense in holding the Bulldogs scoreless. The final score was a startling upset of Carmi, 6-0. Afterward Lawrenceville de- feated the Aces, as did the Olney team. The Aces then tied Princeton in the final game of the season. Definitely the 1971 Aces were a strong team as they tied for third place in the North Egyptian Conference.
