But it wasn't long before we took an active part in Carmel. Of our class twenty-two were honor students while twenty-three made the Lightweight Football team. Fourteen musicians played in the Band and tenjoined the Track team. Un the Bantam and Flyw'eiQ'ht Basketball teams there were six each of our hoopsters. Four became a part of the swiinininq team and three joined the wrestlers. Rlany others participated in other school activities. We were Sophomores now: we knew eyerythinq about Carmel there was to know, so we thought. lwenty-three were on the Honor Roll while eight football players graduated to the Varsity. Four were promoted to the Heavyweight Basketball team: eleyen made up part of our Track team: and fourteen remained with the Band. Six of our class joined the Carmel-Lite staffg eight took part in the tfhoir. and two in our excellent Debating club. both newly organized extra-curricular activities. .Xt last we eoiilcl be called tipperclassmen. a priyilefle we long awaited since our Freshmen days. With iilieen ol our class on the liootliall squad. we won our third City Championship, a phenomenon nt-yer Iieiore ecitiallecl in prep history, Fiye oi' tts were also members of the South Section Basketball tihtmipioiisliip team. lliuhteen of our otitstantline athletes made the monogram club. Fifty of usyjoined the Bowling league, Une of our two Ilit'IIilJt'iis on the new tennis team won a City Championship. lhe last lap. this was itg we were .it the top.
