He was in- structed in the ways of chivalry and m the solemnity and tradi- tion of his vocation. In the same way the Carmel graduate is the final product of four years of education and counseling. He, like the knight, is ready to face the world with a staunch spirit. A Crusader ' remembers the effort put forth by his instruc- tors, and as a result he is ready to run life's course and in his turn instruct his followers and aid them in Receiving the Trad- ition of Carmel, the theme of El Conquistador '66 I . Dedication A Priest Forever Fr. Alexander Werr was born in Chicago in 1933. After graduating from St. Brendan in 1947, he entered Mt. Carmel College, the Carmelite Junior Seminary, at Niagara Falls, Ontario. After graduating from the Falls' in 1951, Father spent his year of novitiate at New Baltimore, Pennsylvania, a year which culminated with his profession of simple vows in 1955 Father Alexander spent the next four years studying theology at Washington D C. During his study of philosophy and theology. Father also attended St. Bonaventure Univer- sity m Olean. New York, from which he received his B A. in philosophy and his M.A. in history. He was finally ordained in June 1959 and in September 1960 he was assigned to Mount Carmel High School in Los Angeles. Father, we re glad you re here at Carmel, and it is with great pleasure that we dedicate this El Conquistador 66 to you. W1 f Contents The faculty of Carmel spends many long hours, in and out of the classroom, helping the students and the school to attain higher educational goals; this is truly in the best interests of the Carmel tradition. Each teacher, an expert in his field, is ever willing to help the Carmel man learn. It is Carmel's faculty that makes the student and the tradition of the school what they are today. Fr. Faculty Funnies The graduate is the final product of four years of learning and instruction. He has received the tradition of Carmel and has shown it by his actions. Now he is departing, but he is giving to Carmel much more than he is taking with him. He has added to the tradition of Carmel and has instructed the other members of the student body in this tradition. He is leaving, but his contribution to the Carmel tradition will remain forever. Farewell'' is a sad word but one which is daily becoming more and more real to the class of 66. High school life is drawing to a close but with its departure comes the very happy memories. This has been a year of ups and downs, successes and failures. But in the end it will be the happiest year. Ronald Alpough St. Francis Cobrini Knights of Carmel 1. 2. 3. 4. The grad- uate is moving on. but he is leaving behind vital information for those fol- lowing in his footsteps. Throughout the years, Mount Carmel's Student Body has consistently prided itself in selecting a qualified man of good character as its Student Body President. This year was no exception. I said Conder won 90 Outside of school life the Cormel stu- dent is given every opportunity to par- ticipate m the many and varied organi- zations around the campus. These activities have been developed over the years by the interest of the students themselves and have time and time again shown that pride in one s self brings out the best in Carmel tradition. The quality of a memorable annual is entirely dependent upon the staff and the work which the staff puts into this memento of days past.
