After twenty-five years of students and happenings, it is all but impossible to single out one person from all those who have helped lVlt. Carmel High in so many ways. However, the task was accomplished. We have chosen a person who is honored and respected by people the world over. She is known under many titles, but we have chosen one made known through the order of which our school is a part. She singled out one member of this order, St. Simon Stock, to receive her greatest gift to us, the brown scapular. She has been the subject of many works of art down through the ages, including a very famous one depicted on the facing page. She has truly fa- vored our school, helping and guiding it through twenty-five years of progress. We, the staff of the 1960 El Conquistador, reverently dedicate this annual to Our Lady of lVlount Carmel.

From her, Carmelites will learn to keep all the words of the Lord in their hearts and ponder over them, and to love solitude and silence. To this most sweet Nlother they will flee in all difficulties of the in- terior and exterior life. By the hands of the most pure Virgin they will offer to God their prayers, labors and crosses to be purified from defects and impurities. ln the arms of the Mediatrix of all graces they will tran- quilly breathe forth their soul, finally to- behold Him unveiled in the light of glory whom they contemplated in this life veiled in faith.
