'1927 AYRIAN 3- JC- Or Lola who always gets home very late And Leona Wimer who plays basket ball first rate, Leland Campbell, an interested worker, And Louise Robinson who is never a shirker. M for Marian Williams a lover of debate, And Marion White who isn't out late, Also Margaret McCandless who continuously giggles And Marion Watts who never gets tickled, Merritt Morse our great track man, Marie Blair another basket ball fan, And Mildred Mosier with golden locks. N is for Neva who never stops, Nona Cole our demoure little maid, Nellie Hacker who is never afraid, And Naomi Price a light haired miss, Who when helping others is in perfect bliss. O is for Orville Hollen who is too slow to catch cold, And Orren Willey who is small but bold. P is for Paul our pessimist, R is for Roy our optimist, Also for Raymond who fills the president's chair, And Rudolph who gives his opponents a scare. S is for Stanley, a regular tease, A And Sloan Coverdell who sleeps at ease. T is for Thelma, a good student is she. U is for ultimate fame some may see. V is for Vernon quiet though not meek, . Also for Victor Dalbey who believes he is a 'shiekf And Vaugh Manners who always succeeds. W is for Winnie who no marcel needs, And Waive Cole known for snappy replies. X stands for the unknown which before us lies. Y for years in High School spent. Z for the zenith toward which our hopes are bent. And now that our goal is almost reached, And our journey's end in sight, We cast some backward glances At our school days rapid flight. We realize how dear to us our Alma Mater is, And each one of our sterling band Resolves to do his best, when we are scattered, For in all walks of life, With strong determination, and a will to win each strife, Weill hitch our Wagon to the highest star in heaven, And make our High School justly proud of the class of '27, -Thelma Richey '27

31927 AYRIAN CLASSPOEM Down the rocky road of knowledge, Over many a pleasant mile, Trudge a modern band of Pilgrims With a frequent of frown or smile. With the faces toward the Mecca Of our Graduation Day, Fifty strong we march, though Some have left us on our way. O'er us stream our colors Of Lavender and White. In our hands our favorite flower Lilies of the Valley, slight, Deeds, not Words our motto Is formed in every heart And the talent of our members Encompasses each known art. Now we introduce each pilgrim And our motives, as you'll see Following alphabetical order Down the line from A to Z. A is for all the Senior mass B stands, we know, for the very best class, C is for Cleora, sweet little miss Will not even give a good-night kiss. C is for Cleve our fair haired shiek, Who goes about with his boots 'a-squeek' D is for Doris Jackson who you all may know Thinks Everett Sutherland is sure some beau. D' is for Doris White a hater of man And Darlien Smithson who is great in declam. E is for Edwin a lover of girls, He surely has fallen for Louise's curls. Elizabeth German, so quiet is she, Effie Campbell who laughs eternally, And Ernest Kling who can make his Saxaphone F is for Fern who can beautifully sing, Fay Osborne a smile she imparts, And Frances Mowry a smasher of hearts. G is for Glen who must unceasingly speak, H is for Hazel who adores Homer but not Greek, Also for Harry our yell leading man And Haven Kidney, a foot ball fan. I is for a letter we must leave out. J is for Jerald who none could doubt. K is for Kenneth our little Tom Thumb, And Keith Johnson who always has fun, Or Kenneth Summers our athletic sport. L is for Lois also one of that sort, 'Q' 4' ring

I -' -: 1927 AYRIAN -:-c -:- .- CLASS WILL We, the class of 1927 of Mt. Ayr H. S. being of sound mind and body do hereby make, publish, and declare this to be our last will and testimony. Realizing that we are about to depart from this school and realizing the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do wish to dispose of our few possessions that we may have accumu- lated honestly or otherwise during our pursuit of knowledge. We do bequeath the following mentioned property to-wit: Article I. I, Jerald Armstrong, do bequeath to anyone needing refreshments during the school hours, all my love for chewing gum. Article II. I, Cleora Armstrong, do leave to any of the boys my shiek bob. Article III. I, Fern Bastow, do leave and bequeath to Theresa Reynolds my vamping abilities. Article IV. I, Roy Baker, do give to Mildred Kitselman the art of blushing. Article V. We, Effie Campbell and Margaret McCandless, donate our giggles to anyone who wishes to disturb the peace. Article VI. I, Leland Campbell, bequeath my position as candy salesman to any Junior who wishes to feed the Physics class. Article VII. I, Nona Cole, do leave to Edna Dowling, my boisterous laugh. Article VIII. I, Waive Cole, do present to Versye Caldwell my book, How to Manage a Husband. Article IX. I, Victor Dalbey, do leave to Orlan Mapel my ponies provided he does not ride them too hard. Article X. I, Elizabeth German, donate free of charge to Lodema Bennett, my flapper ways. Article XI. I, Darlien Smithson, leave to Ma1'garet Beard all my paint and my compact. Article XII. I, Nellie Hacker do leave and bequeath to Gladys Calhoun, my tender coyness and playful ways. Article XIII. I, Orville Hollen, leave to the tender care of Robert Buck, every ounce of my love for Bernadine Downie. Article XIV. I, Stanley Horne, do bequeath to Luther Beymer, one barrel of highly explosive babble. Article XV. I, Doris Jackson, do leave to Wylma Kelly, my book on how to reduce. Article XVI. I, Raymond Johnston. leave my marcel to be sold, given away or put in the ash heap sometime not earlier than 1963. Article XVII. We, the Senior class of 1927 could not induce Haven Kidney and Keith Johnston to surrender any of their sterling qualities. Article XVIII. I, Ernest Kling leave to any broken-hearted under classman, my art of writing love letters, so they may express their feelings. Article XIX. We, Fay Osborne and Vernon Lantz do bequeath to Mildred Kitsel- man and Herbert Summers the rolling pin now in our possession. Please handle it with care as it has had rough usage. Article XX. I, Vaughn Manners, do donate C. O. D. to Clair Willey, all the assort- ed parts of my motorcycle, so that the grand art of puttering around may not perish from this school. Article XXI. I, Harry Milligan do bequeath to Joe Robinson, my wicked ways for I know that Joe is such an angel that he needs some pep. Article XXII. I, Hazel Marsh will relinquish my place at the top of the list of those spoken for, to anyone, upon a thirty day notice. Article XXIII. I, Mildred Mosier do give to Dorothy Lovely, my peroxide blonde. Article XXIV. I, Frances Mowry do bequeath to Myrtle Kaster, my faculty for getting dates. Article XXV.
