BALL Developing the skills which will make an individual a bet- ter basketball player is the im- mediate goal of this program. At the same time, much more occurs during the course of the season. An individual's character is tested repeatedly as the season progresses. Mental and physi- cal stamina are stretched to the limits in game situations. Emotional and physical matu- rity levels are tested over and over. The constant challenge to improve is there every day. 128

What a season for the junior high girl's bas- ketball team. They are 6 and 6 on the season with their last game in the Vergennes Tourna- ment for third place against Orwell. Most games have been cliff hangers; won or loss by 2-3 points.; Perhaps the most exciting win was a 2-13 come from behind at half-time to beat Camel's Hump 21-17. The team is made up of four squads of players who each play 3 min. in the first half. The the all-star team finishes up the game going for the win. 127

The J.V. girls basketball team had a lot of fun. They started their season with a record of 7- 1. They worked real hard, late into the night, as they came to each game with lots of fight. Their offence was good, their defence was mean. Opponents left the court not sure what they had seen. Andrea, Lauren, Jennie, Angie and Nikki worked hard at the start of the game, while Heidi, Chrissy, Lori, Keely, Sherri Andrea and JoAnne came in and did the same. Back; Jennie Timms, Andrea Cota, Front: Lori Lea, Joanne Fran- c jvic, Andrea Parker, Angie Masse, Nikki Clark, Lauren Slayton, Sherri Bedard, Kris Choquette, Heidi Gag- non, Coach Barbara Brody. Missing: Keely Henderson. BALL 129
