To The Class Of 1986 Congratulations to each of you graduating seniors. You are very shortly going to experience one of the major change points in your life and I assure you that you, as many before you, will experience var- ied and confusing emotions on Graduation Day. I encourage you to remember that while gradua- tion commemorates the completion of one phase of your life it also heralds the beginning of the next phase which, if you are prepared, leads to full participation in our society as a young adult. Nev- er forget that the much longed for freedom of adulthood brings with it a good mix of that free- dom, additional rights and the many responsibil- ities of our complex society. The first two can only be fully enjoyed if you wholeheartedly dedicate yourselves to meeting your responsibilities to par- ents, friends, and society in general. Remember for our society to function at its best it requires the participation of the maximum number of citizens. I hope that in this sense you will truly join and participate in today's adult world. I wish you each happiness and contentment and welcome you gradutates to your new status. Harry A. Lawrence Principal

Congra t ula tion s Congratulations to the class of 1980. Time is the one constant in life. Just think! Around your thir- tieth birthday you will move into the 21st century. You and two or three billion travelers will progress through time on spaceship earth. You will carry some old problems with you and undoubtedly you will create some of your own. An intriguing prospect is the change you will wit- ness in your lifetime. What new inventions will you see? What new frontiers will open in space, medicine, communications and travel? Look at the change man has created in the last 86 years - televi- sion, radio, airplanes, spacecrafts, microwave ov- ens. miracle drugs, organ transplants - just to mention a few. The twenty-first century promises similar and perhaps greater happenings. You are fortunate to be able to be a part of scientific, medi- cal and social changes the scope of which we have no idea in 1986. You will see, I hope, the end of war, pollution, racial conflict, hunger and disease. I also hope you will actively engage in solving these problems. Your teachers have worked hard to provide you with coping skills and the basic skills of mathe- matics, science, writing, reading, physical fitness, computers, and driver education. I urge you to study, think, and become involved in your destiny. Face the future by being an inner-directed person. Don't follow the crowd, sheeplike, but rather use flexibility, self-reliance, and clear thinking skills as you push ahead in time. Good luck to each of you as you journey into mysterious time. Keith L. Hall Superintendent of Schools
