• i •• a time to sew . . Bristol Vermont . a time to build up . . The Aerie • • • time to gather stones together . . . a time to dance . . For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 2 4 You are now witnessing the true transformation of Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde. Look, Ma, no stains! 5 They’ll never get the ball from me now! 6 7 Cured — It’s Ouchless! Alpo for meat eaters! Chinchillas are vegetarians. This is where I get all my new words. Quick! In the gym! Mr. Marsters, how you’ve changed! 8 . . There is a time to sew . . This can certainly be said of the M.A.U.H.S. Faculty and Staff who take the time to sew not only knowl- edge, but also friendship, involve- ment, and concern. The student body is fortunate in having such a fine Faculty, whose efforts are felt every day in the classrooms, in sports, in activities, and in various projects. 9 In addition to the usual congratulations offered to the members of graduating classes, special congratu- lations should be extended to the Class of 1972. You represent the first class to have completed the full four year high school program at Mt. Abraham Union High School. The true value of the formal educa- tional program in which you have been involved, will be measured by the degree of success that each of you encounters in your chosen field of work or further study. You may be confident knowing that the op- portunities made available to you at this school will enable you to assume responsible citizenship in a con- tinuously changing society. Best wishes to all members of the Class of 1972 for future success in all your endeavors. W. Neal Hoadley Superintendent of Schools It Mr . Elizabeth Heffernan, Secretary to Superintendent Mr. John Connolly. Principal; Mr. Anthony Dominick, Assistant Principal The element of change, so characteristic of today’s world in nearly every par! of human existence, is particularly descriptive of the field of education. The Class of 1972 conclude their high school education, realizing change in many areas of our society and world is most necessary, and equally, that not all change is either necessary or desirable. Members of this graduating class, along with many graduating classes, will help to determine the socie- ty and world we live in, through careful planning and implementation of change. The Class of 1972 can and will accept this responsibility. 1 extend my best wishes to each graduate, that each will be successful with life and satisfied with your chosen goal. Mr . School Board . . .and a time to gather together;” The School Board members from the five towns of Bristol, Lincoln, Monkton, New Haven and Starkshoro have reason to be proud of their school. One of the finest schools in the stale. Ml. Abraham is a credit to the voters of Union District 28. Concern and the desire to give their students a wide range of educational opportunities drew the mem- bers of the five towns together and is shown in the swimming pool, the many Industrial Arts areas, the Homemaking Department, the Li- brary, the Music Rooms, and the many other areas of the school. To the School Board and the voters of Union District 28 we say, 'Thank you.” 91 up. up. and away . . .! Sure she can smile. The end of a school year is a time of looking forward, but it is also a time for memories. We e tried to capture some of the fleeting memories in this yearbook, but equally important are.the permanent ones, such as the new sign at the entrance of the school. Two Seniors are responsible for it, but behind them is a student body that is grateful for and proud of Mount Abraham Union High School. This year's staff has tried to make the 1972 Aerie reflect the personality of the student body. It was an enormous job, and there are many people to thank for it. Among them are Dawn Powell, who is responsible for all the art work in the book, and Patty Bouvier, Keith Williams, and Marion Janousek, who are the Aerie experts in creative layout. I am especially grateful to Mike Dumas and his business staff who took care of the business and financial de- tails that are a hidden but important part of every yearbook. Special thanks also go to Jay Strong, our student photographer, and to Suzanne Orvis, the Assistant Editor, who took the job in the middle of the year and did a great job. I'm sure that next year she will do an excellent job for her class and the school. I would like to thank Mrs. Adams for her patience, unfailing cheerfulness, ingenuity, and ability to let us do the yearbook our own way. Finally, I would like to say thank you for what has been a challenging and rewarding year as the editor of the 1972 Aerie. 120 Louise Booska Golf Team First row: J. Rathburn. G. McKinnon. D. Norris.
