Ffeslrxmevx The usual laughs and embarassments were experienced on October 3, when fifty-four freshmen were initiated by the seniors. The freshman boys appeared in school with their jeans above their knees, hose, and overshoes, and wore their mother's hats. The girls wore their father's overalls inside out, aprons heels, no makeup, and swim caps. The day was climaxed with an assembly at which time the green freshmen performed for the entire student body. The new teachers were also initiated into the realm of MHS. Rob Parks and Marilyn Stucky feed each other with 'baby bottles while blindfolded. Joyful seniors look on. Debaters strike a familiar pose as they Debaters relax in their motel. prepare to depart for a debate tourna- ment. Debaiefg Cai' ixnfe. FIVXYBS TYOP ie.5 Moundridge High School debaters participated in another successful year of debate. Three trophies were won during the course 'of the season. The squad entered eight tournaments: Winfield, Fredonia, Hutchinson, Garden City, Derby, Emporia, and Class A District and State. Kay Ann Krehbiel and Kenneth Lohrentz won second place honors at Gar- den City and third at Hutchinson. Kay Ann, Kenneth, Wanita Stucky, Kay Wedel, and Janet Wedel comprised the state team. After winning second place at the Class A district tourney, this team tied for third in state competition. 1957 - '58 marked the first year of Class A competition. The squad won 67 of 123 decisions-5896. Kay Ann Krehbiel and Kenneth Lohrentz, with the best record, won 7595 of all debates in which they par- ticipated.
