It tells of you and your activities during this year. Although there may be much controversy as to the purpose of a school yearbook, we are confident that it will serve as a memorium and will be a priceless possession to those who own it. In future years as you reach to the highest shelf for the Wildcat, memories will be embedded in that volume. In the dust covered annual you will find a portrayal of high school life and a glimpse of your youthful activities. As you put the Wildcat back into its old familiar spot, you will think back of all the pleasant times you have had-the understanding hearts-the ever patient teachers and all the other activities which pertained to high school days. The staff sincerely hopes that you will enjoy your '58 Wildcat. It is our pleasure to present it to you. The game was played with Nickerson on October 11. Queen Charlene was escorted to the throne by captain Daniel Wedel. Attendants, Velma Hoyer and Marilyn Goebel, were accompanied by co-captains Dick Gaeddert and Glenn Rupp. Sarah and Allen Goering acted as crown and football bearers. The highlight of the game was an 80-yard run by Don Wedel, senior letterman. This was the only touchdown made by the Wildcats in the homecoming tilt. Don Wedel is headed for the goal post as he executes the play which produced the 'cats' only TD. Several Panthers are in hot pursuit. They opened the season with a 20 - 7 loss to Marion in a non-league contest. League play began with a thrilling 7 - 6 victory over Halstead. On October 11, before a honie- i coming crowd, the 'Cats lost a thriller to Nickerson 7 - 6. This was followed by 40 - 7 and 32 - 2 blastings by Haven and Pretty Prairie, respectively. 1 The Wildcats returned to the winning way by defeating Inman 13 - 0, 1 however, Buhler proved too powerful as they whitewashed the 'Cats 48 - 13. l At the close of the season the Burrton game was forfeited by the Eagles be- cause of influenza. The five losses do not prove that MHS had an unsuccessful season. Many l sophomores saw action, which indicates that Moundridge might be doing p well in the future. 1 The second team played several games during the season, as did the freshmen. The freshman boys appeared in school with their jeans above their knees, hose, and overshoes, and wore their mother's hats. The girls wore their father's overalls inside out, aprons heels, no makeup, and swim caps. The day was climaxed with an assembly at which time the green freshmen performed for the entire student body. The new teachers were also initiated into the realm of MHS. Both wins were recorded in league play. The first five consisted of one senior and four juniors. Underclassmen made up the bulk of the squad, which indicates a more successful future. Mondridge was host to the Class A District Tournament in which six other schools participated. Earlier in the year the 'Cats placed fourth with losses to Clearwater and Andale in the Halstead Invitational. Mr. Milford E. Greer, superintendent Mrs. Delia Graber, office secretary Guides oi SCi'XOOi pxciiviiipeg A strong faculty and administration through the years have made Moundridge High School a sound educational institution. More than ever before the high school is aware of its obligations of service to the stu- dents. Here is the place where personalities are acquired, character is built, and friendships are made. In fulfilling these roles the superintendent and faculty give their very best service. Some of the teachers have been here several yearsg they-know each student and how to help him. Probably the most important person to the high school student is the superintendent. Supt. Greer with his twelve years of service, has seen students advance from the first through twelflh grades. He has guided many graduates to find their place in life. Alfred Meyer, Lester Goering, Marvin Goering, Joe Goering, Ray Kaufman S! E -if -mu' . 1553, .
