As soon as the thermometer hit 70°, we rushed out to buy our bikinis and suntan lotion. During the first few weeks of summer. our minds were set on acquiring our Coppertone tans out on Lake Minnetonka Big Island and Surf side were two of the most popular sunning spots. Unfortunately. our funds for suntan lotion ran out. and as a result, some of us were forced to go job hunting. Many of us were found, daydreaming about sunshine at Mac and Dons. A W, Lafayette Club and Super Value while we dutifully performed our chores. Our evening activities were endless, you could tell that a person went mini putting by the mosquito bites on his body the next day Our trips to Fletcher's and Mai Tai were evident by our complaints of headaches the following morning To escape the evenings heat you could find us in the basement of the nearest air conditioned house watching the latest video with friends Many times these video sessions turned into all night slumber parties accompanied by food, food dnd more food. Even though the 98° temperatures refused to drop, we realized that Aug. 29th was just around the corner.
