Mound Track Team Wins Race for a Good Season The highlight of the track season was the winning of the Mound Relays. It was a come-from-behind victory and a team effort that made our season a great success. In twelve varsity track meets the team ran against ninety-five schools in which they outscored forty-three of them. The track squad was led in scoring by Co-Captain Steve Coleman, who was also the top sprinter. He set three school records: the 100 yard dash in 9.9 seconds, 440 in 50.3 seconds and 220 in 2.15. Terry Bender and Co-Captain Daryl Krueger were team leaders in distance and running. They also broke school records: Krueger—2 mile run in 10.2 and Bender—1 2 mile run in 2.04.3.
