Original Creations Rancid Ijge ... Art ... Ski Club advisor ... “Happiness is a Friday—a snowday and payday.” This year Home Economics I concent rail'd on meals and home planning. Flower arrange-merits ami foreign foods added a little spice to the rooks. Home Economics II introduced family life anil home furnishings. There was also an extensive study of clothing construction. Art I was primarily a course to introduce the student to the hroad ami still widening area of the art field. Much work revolved around still life drawings. Art II was, for the first time, divided into “A groups and ‘iV groups. While the regular “B” group was assigned certain projects, the “A” group had its choice of doing whatever the individual wanted. The projects of Art II dealt mainly with crafts, painting and work with clay and ceramics. Calvin Block poses for the Art I class. Future Homemakers Helen Pesonen . . . German III students learn to speak the language with a smile. Mintic Ferguson ... Cerman ... German Club advisor ... “Happiness is ambitious and cooperative (but fun-loving) students. Deufsch and Espanol Manuel Macias ... Spanish ... Span ish Club advisor ... “Happiness is Felicidad.” The basics of German grammar have been the primary objective of German I. In the first year the language lab was introduced to give prac-tiee in pronunciation and sentence patterns. Grammar and composition were emphasized in German II. along with the reading of short stories. In German III more literature was read, and the students were given frequent practice in composition. Kmphusis was placed on vocabulary, grammar and culture in Spanish I. Spanish II emphasized grammar and conversation with students improvising dialogues to be given in class. In Spanish III the students were to use as much of the language as possible as they improved their skills and gave skits. 18

Audio-Visual Coordinator. Electronics Club and Stage Crew advisor . . . “Happiness is Success. Developing Potential There were two main industrial arts courses; the series of Wood Shop I. II and III, and a similar sequence in Metal Shop I, II and III. In both courses the students drew up original plans and determined the costs of their projects. They progressed from basic projects, such as tables, to more advanced constructions. In Electronics I and II. the students dealt with electricity and basic electronic principles. Harry Bo khaus . . ood Shop AH students completed their own projects with . . . Happiness is knowing the . . r ... ...... circuits, transmitters and radio. Tom Matson and Paul Erwin concentrate hard in electronics class. 20
