Carl Sandburg SKYSCRAPER Many times, a school is judged by the number of classrooms it has or the seating capacity of its auditorium. Anyone within the school knows, however, that it is the people, not the building, that make a school. Almost anyone would agree that the things he remembers most from high school are the great times he had with other students at rehearsals, games, dances, pep fests....... For this reason, the theme of the 1965-66 MOHIAN is student life.

We will all remember Pete as a friend eager to help with the countless everyday problems of a high school. Born in the Danish sector of Schleswig-Holstein, he attended school in Denmark until the eighth grade. Pete served in the German army until 1918. As a sailor of the Danish fleet, Pete came to America in 1919. Here he married his wife. Rose, in 1923. Pete served his country in the US Navy from 1942 until 1945. He received battle citations as a member of the beach battalions at Okinawa, Iwo Jima, and the Philippines. Pete’s most often quoted statement about the high school: There arc exceptionally good kids at Mound.
