Our country,s citizens cannot help safeguard our liberties unless they are aware of the nature of our freedom and the dangers which threaten it. Through the study of World Cultures, taught by Sr. Mary Reginald, Miss Eleanor Bar- rett, Mrs. Veronica Boesken, Miss Eileen Bone- kamp, and Miss Pamela Juergens, students can evaluate the contribution of former civilizations. The history of our country is traced from the pre- revolution era to the present day in U. S. History classes. This subject is taught by Mr. Thomas Backer, Mrs. Boesken, and Miss Bonekamp. Romance and adventure stories are told by trans- lations and give students a vivid picture of the colonial and Indian background of Latin America. The high point of a year of Spanish is the tea given for girls from Latin American countries. Students Visit France Through Language Linda Nordman displays French version of Life Magazine. French, one of the three languages of the United Nations, is more becoming the second language of many Americans. This year the girls at Mercy may begin stutiying French in their freshman year, so they may have completed four years by gradu- ation.
