hBuenos dias! greets Miss Plant as she starts another day. 28 Language- U n ity Small world isrft it! . . . Today, through the mass news media, and technological developments, con tinents are no longer oceans apart. The theme of our modern age is Unity. Unity among people of the world through a knowledge, understanding, and respect for each others culture, customs, and language. The study of languages is a means to such a goal. Through Latin, taught by Sr. Mary Celestine R.S.M., Sr. Mary de Sales R.S.M. and Sr. Mary Ursula R.SAM., girls come to appre- ciate the culture of the ancients, and hnd a very good foundation for modern languages. Our S. American neighbors are a constant source of in- terest for Miss Martinds and Miss Planths Span- ish classes. A recent focus of worldeide attention is France, and Sr. Mary Julianjs R.S.M. French students are sure to be up on all the current events through their overseas correspondence. Surely, studying foreign language is an essential qualih- cation for international citizenship. The plans and decorations for the annual Pan-American tea. are being discussed by Miss Martino and Spanish student Diane. Yunger, continuing the four-year-old tradition. .r-AmWh... , u n 42M .A-lm-w... n-nv.
