The Mercy girls who are considering a business career attend sessions for typing, shorthand, bookkeeping and ollice practice. The continuous click, clack of the typewriter and the conscientious work done by scores of busy business-minded students are reasons why so many successful secretaries come from Mercy. Adding machine-user Phyllis Hauser pauses to check the new bookkeeping work sheet charts with Margie Koenig. The answers are yes and no , Yes, you're likely to hear a baby crying because the Homemaking ll classes are taking a course in child care. And, no. high school girls are not playing with doll houses, but practicing interior decorating on a miniature scale. You may even have smelled the wonderful aroma of the cookies that the foods classes baked for P.T.A. These are just three of many ways that Miss Mercy learns homemaking. earn any sefill Xi Babys first bath presents no real difhculty for junior Lynda Dorrington as she gently washes his head under the watchful eye of Miss Runge, Red Cross instructor. That soup smells good, comments Mrs. Cunningham as cooks. Linda Gartner and Charlene Heid stir on and on. The deciding pitch is whirling through the air and . . . it's a hit. Meanwhile, back in the gym the ping pong pros are chalking up another victoryg the basketball stars are showing their speed and dexterity in passing and in shooting. So goes another typical gym class. Chalk up one for Barbara Bouck's team as she imitates Big O at the free-throw line in a gym-time thriller. Ping! Mary Rose Freeman cautiously returns a serve while partner Barb Bouck is alert for the next play.
