BUSINESS IS OUR BUSINESS Click, click, click, the efficient sounds of a business office are heard throughout Mercy's typing class as agile fingers skim over the typewriter keys and busy minds transcribe their shorthand notes into practice letters. Future secretaries who are Barbara Meyer, Arlene .laspers and Margie Meents are preparing for their careers in the busy world of business. Out of these classes will come businesswomen of tomorrow. ln typing, shorthand and bookkeeping classes, the girls become acquainted with two highly important words, neatness and accuracy. They learn the correct use of the typewriter, dictaphone, mimeograph and many other business machines. When the time comes, they will step out into the business world, ready to fulfill the large demand for dependable, efficient workers. Adding column to column and work to pleasure are, left to right, Clare Scherer, Mary Wellman, Patricia Daly and Shirley Buchel who are trying it the easy way by using the adding machines. Clear, clean miineograph copies are produced by Martha Metsch, Carol Kathman and Mary Grosse, as they have a practice session on the new duplicating machine in the commercial department, 29
