30.1270 Pearngduegeexz again Twenty-four of them have been spent at Mercy. Each year I offered the Opening Mass for all; I have tried to fire hearts for the Missions; I always appIouded your dramatic productions, called down a blessing on many an assemblage, attended your recitoIs and encouraged toIent. I have enjoyed the annual. Christmas parties, and given awards to students who ran and won. I have loved laying the Hosts on your tongues knowing you pledged to keep them ever clean. And as I tollowad you in the May processions, ottered for you thanks for girlhood blessings and Finally sent you forth Commencement Night, I pray that you e'er follow Mercy's teaching, for it Ieads so surely to your Heavenly Home. Entries and pro- iects for various contests are painted, sprayed, and lettered. Highepoints in the year Were the Christmas and the Sesquicentennial art exhibits. Model home and vocation exhibits were held and girfs also helped in Red Cross work. Thus, artists were kept busy all thru the year. 18 A lovely time of year is autumn when the worm sun bids farewell and the noisy wind makes its regular entrance. Football fever catches crowds cheering in the stands. Old cornstolks and colorful leaves blend to put Mercions in a new, gay autumn mood. The mystery of living plants and animals has long been 0 fascinating study of man. In the biology class the student is given an insight to one of the oldest sciences. This science deals with the living world about us, from the single-celled amoeba to the complex human. Seasonal field trips on Mercy's spacious campus add interest to biology. She immerged happily, yet solemn and impressed, see- ing that she was at last a port of that great or- ganization which was her schoot tor the next four years. While building a Firm foundation in math, languages, sciences and the arts, she will become acquainted with girls who will be her friends for years to come. Through the SDS and other organiza- tions, she will come to a full realization of the fact that she has an obligation as a Mercy girl.
