Amid the unfurling of Cincinnatiis blue and white Hag, the new Archbishop arrived here September 25, 1950. The Knights of Columbus lined the Terminal and saluted the Bishops arrival. Priest after priest kissed the prelate's ring as a symbol of obeisance. Then the bishop began a triumphant ride to his College Hill home. Joyful children called Hello Archbishop as he passed. Later His Excellency and the diocesan consultors gathered in the Chapel of his home where he formally presented the Papal documents announcing his appointment to the Metropolitan See of Cincinnati. The following day, St. Monica Cathedral was filled to overflowing With crowds of clergymen and laity. Here His Eminence assumed the leadership of the Archdiocese in an impressive ceremony.
