Trying to attain the standards set forth by the '47 and '48 yearbookst which were rated All American, a quartet of edi- tors of '49 pooled their journalistic tal- ents, artistic ability and ideas, in the after school hours to produce the MCYCY- wood of 1949. Between pages packed with the story of life at Mercy can be seen the hard work which makes a good annual. The force behind the lines of the Mercy- wood are the efficient typists and busi- ness managers. Endless copy and adver- tisements kept these girls at their jobs long hours after schdol and on holidays. The artists of 1949 made their services invaluable in planning layouts, pasting visuals and other countless items. They, together with the other staff members, re- corded your life during the 118-49 year. Memories of hard work and worry all vanr ish. as they view the finished product This is it, your storehouse of memories, 1 record of the unforgettable year Of '49 UPPER: I, Klug, J. Miller J. Since September, cameras have been Hash- ing, trying to record every activity of Mercians, in order to present a true pic- ture of activities during the year 1949. Ruth Hoesel, in particular, has been very active. With her trusty camera she was always around, ready to take a picture Make it forty characters per line and eight lines, These directions kept the editorial staffs at their desks writing and rewriting to make the copy perfect. These instructions seemed hard to fol- low, at first, but after much Practice stories began to unfold, and take their places in the '49 edition of Mercywood. SEATED e kit to right: R, W7ucsk ,v A.
