Faitlz Honored The occasion for this presentation was the selec- tion of Mother Cabrini as the outstanding Immigrant of the Century by the American Committee on ltalian Migration whose object is to point up the glorious achievement and contributions to the prog- ress and welfare of the linited States by Americans of Italian ancestry or origin. Mother Cabrini, the First American Saint, was the first to win this honor, and the posthumous presentation of the award was made to the Reverend Mother Antonietta Della Casa, Superior General of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred lleart. the religious institute founded by St. lfrant es Xax ier tialvrini. rlllltxl'l'I'l1itllbIly took place in the grand ballroom of the llotel Commodore. Time and again. the words of Pope Leo XIII came back to her ears: 'America-a glorious new country-a land of freedom and opportunity., How many times she reminded her dearly beloved Italian immigrants of that. And they have been worthy of her example of loy alty to Cod and America. Sixty-three years ago Mother Calvrini walked through the doors of St. l'atrit-kts Cathedral-a homeless immigrant, but not a disillusioned displaced person, because she had lfaith. she had conndence in Divine Providence. Tonight she is a Lady in bronze emblazoned with a golden halo on the very door of that Cathedral which she entered humbly as an immigrant six decades ago. lt is the miracle of Faith.
