Theirs is a story of courage and self-sacrifice seldom equaled. They accepted the challenge-the motto of Trinity blazing in their hearts- For God and Country. But now these valiant soldiers are laid to rest. They are men of Trinity in the fullest sense, for they have gone to Calvary with Christ. ln a certain sense, they will return no more, but in another sense, their spirit will re- main forever in the hearts of all Trinitarians. llllElll0lllllL IT IS with the sincerest respect and love that we recall to mind the Reverend George Herget, deceased pastor of Holy Trinity. To those who knew him, his kindness, generosity, and understanding will long be re- membered. He was omnipresent in our world. He suffered our sorrows and shared our joys. He was a part of Trinity and a part of every stu- dent. Now. . . God has recalled His servant, We pray he is near Our Blessed Mother whom he loved so dearly upon earth. During our stay at Trinity, these Catholic men have taught us the principles and postulates of our religion. They have motivated our minds to prayer and to study. Yet, they do not seek a material reward. Their wish is that we, as Catholic young men, keep and practice our Faith at all times. In the footsteps of their beloved founder, Father Chaminade, they trod, filled with the spirit and zeal of making our world Christ's. We wish to salute their efforts and we point with pride to our . . . .....-in I2 Q J PRI CIPAL fkfthw .Ewan Www, SJW. But you have also chosen a herculean work that will not be achieved except through blood, sweat, tears, and, I might add, persevering prayer. From day to day one tact is growing more apparent: the people of the world are aligning themselves into either the camp of Christ or into a camp that is not His. Our Catholic Faith tells us which of these two forces will eventu- ally be victorious. lt is your glorious privilege, dear Graduates, to swell the ranks of the cam- paigners tor Christ by now putting into practi- cal living the Catholic principles you inbibed while at Holy Trinity. That this may be realized in every one of you is my sincerest wish. Yours always in J. M. J., LOUIS J. WIESNER, S.M. Principal 15 ASSISTA 'l' PRI lllllilli '2:z2'n.,. ziiiiliffz-iii 1' ii T ,sw . Without these ideals, the task of making our world Christ's would be impossible, The training of young men for this task begins in high school. At Trinity, a school contest is held semi-annually to determine the most promising young orator. Candidates are selected by competition in the various classes. This year, John McDermott won first place in the contest, Trinity also takes part in interscholastic oratory competi- tion. This year John McManus and Donald Zoeller represented the Blue and White in a zone contest with St. Agnes and St. Leonard's High Schools. This was followed by the finals of the Bishop's Public Speaking Contest in Bishop's Public Speak- ing Contest. which all the winners of the zones of the diocese compete. This year it was Trinity's honor to have one of her candidates, John McManus, win the zone competition and go on to capture first place in the finals. Fr. Louis congratulates J. McDermott, winner of the scihool's oratorical contest as the other partici- pants look on. They are F. McGrath, J. Cleary, J. McManus, D. Hoeg, D. Zoeller, J. Clifford, and H. Rossman. Keating at the assembly that saw the first leg of the Bishop's Public Speaking Contest, 46 ,, 'l' llE 'I' llllllllllllL INCE it is our duty to bring our world closer to Christ, we must learn the meaning of responsibility. For this purpose Holy Trinity has instituted the Student Council. It gives stu- dents the opportunity to represent their classes in a democratic meeting and to put forth their ideas for the betterment of the school. lt is composed of the presidents and specially elected representatives of all the classes. This term it operated under the able leadership of Bro. Michael Robl. The student officers of the Council are: Thomas Brennan, president, John McManus, vice-president, and Frank Haas, secretary. lt numbers among its accomplishments the banning of foreign monograms around the school, the adoption of volley- ball intramurals, proposals to hold a Tom Brennan, the peopIe's cherce, pres- ident of the Student Senior Day and establish track and rifle teams at the school. Through this vital organ students express their wants in a democratic manner and young men are so prepared to bear the obligation of responsibility. J. Cleary reports to a committee of the Student Council made up of J. McDermott, W. Harley, W. Lewis, J. McSherry, and W. I OR the second straight year, the basketball intramurals have been conducted most suc- cessfully under the managerial eye of Coach Joe Geary. Though Varsity and Jayvee players were excluded from play, many stars shone on the twenty different teams participating. Each team played four games in regular league style and then a tournament of games was played. Champs in the Junior division were the Fourth termers, while the Sixth termers copped the Senior crown and the school championship. High scorer among the Seniors was J. Kerwick with 7l points, J. Carrick topped the Juniors with 44 points. As that water is taken into the hands of the priest and changed by the miracle of Consecration into the Body and Blood of Christ, so you have been taken into the hands ot the Brothers of Mary and changed by means ot a Christian educa- tion into another Christ. As that l-lost, now become Christ, leaves the hands of the priest to bring Lite and hope and peace into the desolate world, so you should leave the hands of the Brothers and bring into the world you are entering -lite and hope and peace.
