A Home Away From Home Here's a question for you: Where is the best place at school to meet a friend, an enemy, or your girl or boyfriend? Answer: Your locker of course! The lockers may not be pleasant to the eye, but they sure do take a big load off of the students. We made our lockers as homely as we wanted them. We decorated them with posters of the stars and pho- tos of our friends. But one thing was for certain, our lockers were a big part of school life. llMSophomorcs M d WIIL? . Mary McCuIIum. Sharon Owens, Guuwuinu Parker, Sharon Payne: Paige Assem blies Together again! Assemblies at MPHS meant excitement to most of us. It was a change of pace and a welcomed interruption to many. Ifit was class ring time, we had the op- portunity of purchasing a keepsake that would remind us we were almost seniors! We would start thinking about who we would ask to turn our rings those 86 times or which girl- friend we would go steady with first! Mr. Kelly once again llred us all up for the magazine sale wearing one white sequined glove. Talent shows, Jr. Miss, Beauty Pageant, and school pictures all called us in to that vast auditorium. Assemblies were where we all came together for the same purposes and were reminded that school was not all work. 34lJuniors Phillips, Nita Pittman. Angela Plainer, Dzzrrcndu Pusey. Linda Paws. The Tigers started quickly with two come-from-behind victories. Against Hattiesburg, the Tigers were quickly behind 13-0, only to come on strong to out-muscle their opponents, And Against Pearl, it took two fourth- quarter touchdowns to make the Ti- gers 2-0. Against Theodore. the A13- bama team proved to be too much for the Tigers. Against Biloxi, when overtime seemed to be coming, Bi- loxi drove down the field and kicked the game-winning field goal. Then, the Tigers lost a very controversial game to Gulfport. After a win at Harrison Centraland a loss at Vigor, the Tigers had three home games. On Homecoming night, the Tigers easily defeated Green wood. The next Friday night against Meridian, the I Tigers were in for a defensive battle. Moss Point prevailed in bad weather conditions on 2 Scott Bosarge field goal. The season finale was with arch-rival Pascagoula. Both teams had identical records coming in, but the Tigers won this game on two Chris Osgood touchdown passes and two Scott Bosarge field goals. The Tigers accepted a bid for the Red Carpet Bowl in Vicksburg. In this contest, the Tigers stomped their 0p- ponents, Warren Central. The 1984 Tigers proved to everyone that they were a super team!
