CLASS HISTCRY In the fall of 1954 we entered Morven Hrgh School w1th 24 young and eager members Miss Jane Plyler and Mr Ernest Wrtherspoon were our homeroom teachers Our class offrcers were Presrdent Joe Pratt Vrce Presi dent Janet Adams Secretary Judy Hutchinson Treasurer Mary Braswell Historian Wayne Ballard We were very active Freshmen and really l1ved up to our names We always seemed to get blamed for the meanness as rf we drdn t do our share of it Srx of our members were lucky enough to play basketball We yorned the F F A and the F H A chapters and took part rn the school Glee Club During the year we enJoyed one class party and several outsrde partres Judy Hutchinson and Rrsden Ackerman were the marshals for commencement from our class We looked forward to our Sophomore year when we would not be That Awful Freshman Clam We soon learned that Just bemg sophomores hadn t changed us much We really led in the role of silly sophomores as in our Freshman year all meanness seemed to be blamed on us and we spent a great deal of trme rn the offrce We dropped the role of srlly sophomores for one night when we had a very enjoyable class party We now looked forward to our Jumor year with ant1c1pat1on Mr J L McCracken was our homeroom teacher until November when he resrgned We hated to lose htm but soon we were under the k1nd guidance of Mr Raymond Northcutt who sard we were the smartest class with figures he d ever taught As we began our Jumor year we felt very much grownup and used to lngh school hfe Mrs Thomas was our Janet Adams Treasurer Mary Braswell and Hrstorran Kat Hrghtower We planned and gave a very successful Halloween Carruval The day our class rings came we went around with our hands high in the arr all day The brggest and most CXC1I1Ilg event of that year was plannrng and grvmg our Jumor Semor Banquet We could hardly wart to begtn work on the banquet Wrth our gtude Mrs Thomas we gave a very beautrful Hawauan Banquet on Apnl 20 At the end of the thrrd quarter we learned Judy Hutchmson was chref marshal and Janet and Mary were our other marshals How fast the time does fly! Before we could realize rt we were drgmfred Semors Rrsden Ackerman was elected Presrdent of our class Our tnp with the Juniors was an event we wrll long remember We enjoyed the beautrful banquet that was grven rn our honor at the Lotus Club We have had a busy year as well as an enJoyable one In our spare trme we have played basketball and baseball worked on the annual and attended enough classes to graduate we hope Debby Dobbins and Davrs Diggs were chosen to be our mascots The last quarter of school was the busiest of all We gave our Senior play and planned our graduation programs Four years ago we entered hrgh school eager implusrve immature children but now that we are ready to leave we feel that we have learned so much and have shared so many excrtmg privileges and responsrbtlrtres We realize that these four years have been the happiest and best of our l1fe As we say good by to the school teachers and underclassrnen we realrze how happy we have been here and we w1ll forever carry tn our hearts the same spurt of courage and high minded lntegnty which we were taught rn DEAR OLD MORVEN HIGH SCHOOL Complrments of HAMILTONS Men 's Wear Cheraw South Carolina .
