DEDICATION MR. WILLIAM D. MURCHIE We, the Senior Class of nineteen hundred and eighty-eight, proudly dedi- cate the 1988 Retrospect to Mr. William D. Murchie, Director of the Bureau of Institutional Support Services. Mr. Murchie has been instrumental in helping to make possible all construc- tion atThe Homesince1962. Buildings constructed since that time include Lowder Hall, Jackson Hall, Cortner Cottage, American Legion Boy's Residence Hall, and the swimming pool as well as the rehabilitation of many of the older buildings. Mr. Murchie has also been instrumental in updating statutes that control l.S.S.C.H. The welfare of the children of The Home has been a priority of Mr. Murchie's for 25 years. Many students today don't realize that it is he who is responsible for opportunities and facilities they now enjoy. Dr. Woodrow Myers, Jr., State Health Comrriissioner, praised Mr. Murchie highly when he said, Bill Murchie isa team player, he is extremely knowledgeable and has a great deal of insight into the problems of lagency survival' ...... Mr. Murchie has always been there for the children of The Home and we appreciate it. Mr. Murchie began his work with The State Board of Health in 1954. He served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force from April 1951 until February 1954. He graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1942. We, the Class of 1988, along with the staff, teachers, employees, and all the children of The Home, wish to express our heart--felt gratitude to Mr. Murchie.
