Throughout the years the Ameri- can Legion and Ladies' Auxiliary have provided much appreciated support for the Home and all it's children. In 1919 the Indiana Department Commander of the Legion appointed a committee to study and work with the officials of the Home for the benefit of the children. Each Commander since that time has appointed a Knightstown Home Committee. The Auxiliary's Department of Indiana began functioning in 1922 with child welfare being one of their major concerns. The posts and their members sponsor divisions and individuals throughout the year. Sponsors provide gifts on birthdays and other holidays and hold parties for the children at Christmas time. Their biggest event is Legion Day which takes place in September each year. On this day there is a variety of performances, games, rides, and refreshments. The money raised goes toward the purchase of Christmas gifts for the children. This year the Legion has helped raise money for an honortripto Florida for a week. Highlighting the students stay will be visits to Disney World and Epcot Center. Among the numerable other things the Legion and Auxiliary do for the Home is the funding of the Retrospect.
