Purves Professor of Military Science and Tactics Among examinations included in the testing program being administered by Morton faculty members were two major tests and several more minor examinations. A general intelligence test helped the teacher discover the student's mental capacities but it also showed the pupil his mental range. An achievement test given to freshmen stu- dents assisted the teachers in determining the knowledge gained by the students prior to their entrance into high school. With the bulk of the program done in the freshmen voca- tional-citizenship classes, the tests also included prognostic, aptitude and interests questionnaires. These were not given as Hquack cure-alls, but were used as a means of increasing interest in the study of vocations. Copies of the results of the tests were sent to the school oflice and the social service department. At the former, they are available to the school teachers. Social service employees use the tests in placing the students following graduation.
