Thin webs of rubber cement hung from desk to desk . . . huge piles ofphotographic copy filled the tables . . . mount- ing board cluttered up the room . . . soft music from the portable radio and sounds of utter con- fusion filled room 250 as the staff rushed about putting in its regular Saturday of work on the PIONEER. Where's Pope's picture? . . , who stole the Pre-med Club? . . . who will go out for hamburgers? . . . where's the paper cutter? . . . what about this cut, lVIr. Finley? . . . Yes, it was a lot of fun at times, but then again there were other times when fun was not to be had. Before this book went 'to press there was a maze of sales conferences, contracts, choice of personnel, plans, layouts and trial ideas. Wi'th that completed came hours ol' picture taking, developing, printing, cutting, filing, typing, proof reading and assem- bling-with frequent trips down to the engravers in the jeep to break the monotony of it all. But that is just the work and hard part of it. The time spent working on this yearis book was time which none of us would sell for any price.- Famous last words, It was worth it.
