we aszfzclenf Counci As a representative of student government, the Student Council accomplished many things this year. They not only had a hand in gov- erning the school, but also introduced new ideas. One of the Hfirstsw was the activity ticket. Admission to the basketball games was charged all those who did not have tickets. The proceeds went i11to the athletic fund to help buy equipment and uniforms. One of the main duties of this organization is to approve the budgets that the various clubs and cabinets have submitted. Second semester members: Bob Smith, Bob Sommer, and John Bordenavc. Don Tarne, Wvilma Vodak. John Pok, Jackie Wagner, and James Kosner. In January, the Council managed the second semester elections in the absence of an elec- tion committee. This was also the first year that a complete Council has been reappointed for the second semester. The first semester Don Tarne, James Kosner, and Jackie Wagner were elected by the student body, with John Pok and Wilma Vodak at- tending by appointment from Mr. Pope, ad- visor for the group. Thin webs of rubber cement hung from desk to desk . . . huge piles ofphotographic copy filled the tables . . . mount- ing board cluttered up the room . . . soft music from the portable radio and sounds of utter con- fusion filled room 250 as the staff rushed about putting in its regular Saturday of work on the PIONEER. Where's Pope's picture? . . , who stole the Pre-med Club? . . . who will go out for hamburgers? . . . where's the paper cutter? . . . what about this cut, lVIr. Finley? . . . Yes, it was a lot of fun at times, but then again there were other times when fun was not to be had. Before this book went 'to press there was a maze of sales conferences, contracts, choice of personnel, plans, layouts and trial ideas. Wi'th that completed came hours ol' picture taking, developing, printing, cutting, filing, typing, proof reading and assem- bling-with frequent trips down to the engravers in the jeep to break the monotony of it all. But that is just the work and hard part of it. The time spent working on this yearis book was time which none of us would sell for any price.- Famous last words, It was worth it.
