Although it may seem odd to dedicate a yearbook to a building, our school means a lot more to us than just a building. Within these walls, we have spent a large share of our growing up years. Within these walls, our personal- ities, our minds, our bodies, our very being has been formed. For better or for worse we are what we are today due to a large extent on what happened in our school. The influence of our school will always be a part of each of us. We are grateful and proud to say that we went to Morton High School. We hope you enjoy reading this special, final yearbook, as much as we enjoyed putting it together. 2 6 Queen Lori Homecoming Queen's Court Kris Simning escorted by Russ McGowan Kim Pendleton escorted by Joe Simmons The Best Of . . . 1. It was the last Homecoming ever to be held at M.H.S. The week started off on September 24 with the Coronation. Lori Hennen was crowned our 1984 Homecoming Queen and the Seniors took the first prize in the skit competition with a slide presentation. Tuesday and Thursday the Volleyball team played both of their games away and came up with 2 losses. On Friday the annual parade and powder puff game was held with the Mighty Senior Freshmen team beating the Junior Sophomore team by a score of 14-12!!! The Indians were defeated by the Cottonwood Raiders with the ending score of 35-12. After the disappointing defeat Super System Ltd. brought back our spirits with mu- sic and excitement as everyone danced the night away. 1. Seventh Grade Representative: Tracy Dallen- bach 14 The F.H.A. members put forth a special effort this year to make the Sweetheart activities special for the student body. The week of Flake Festival began with Punk Day and a medallion hunt. Clues were given in the announcements and the people who found them received $5.00 each. One was hidden for the high school and one for the elementary. Following, was Wimp Day and Sucker Day, Heart’s Day and Friday was Blue and Gold Day and Hat Day. A new feature was the corona- tion of a junior princess. Ann Brazil, representing the ninth grade, was elected from a field of three junior high candidates. During the cere- monies Jean Reitter presented a summary of the history of F.H.A. on the national, state, and local level. This was especially fitting since F.H.A. is celebrating its 40th birthday in 1985. Our 1984 Sweetheart Queen, Kim Pendleton, crowned Jerilyn Kodet the 1985 Queen. The Sweetheart Dance was very successful. Many students enjoyed danc- ing to music provided by Disc Jockey, Joe Ruhland. 15 1985 Junior-Senior Prom Suits and formals temporarily replaced jeans and t-shirts on April 27, the night of the Junior-Senior Prom. This years theme was “A Night in Heaven” with KOLV pro- viding the music at the grand march and dance. Mrs. Bonnie Scheitel was the guest speaker at the banquet which was held at the Sheep Shedde in Olivia. The dance was followed by an early morning breakfast served by the Junior mothers in the Morton Legion Hall. It truly was A Night In Heav- en.” A Night In Heaven This years Prom was the last one to ever be held in the gym at M.H.S. The Seniors would like to thank the Juniors for making their last Prom here a special one. A great time was had by everyone and it will always be a Prom to remember. Thanks again, for a great Prom!!! 17 Here's To You, MHS On May 16, 1985, Morton school held a special event. The production HERE’S TO YOU MHS was presented to the public. Inglis Dr. Thomas Inglis Memories are pressed in the pages of a book ... each page through its pictures and copy brings back to life the emotions and feelings that we all shared throughout the year ... the tense excitement at sports events, the quiet studious atmosphere that hangs over the school on a day of tests, trying to figure out MACBETH, Homecoming, Prom and other social activities, the hustling in the halls to get to your next class on time while getting the latest gossip in 3 minutes, the nervous anticipation before one of the dances these are only a few of the hundred's of experiences that we have all shared. The annual staff hopes that it was able to capture some of these special feelings for you and put them in print. We hope that when you read this yearbook, not only now, but twenty years from now, you will be able to relive and refeel the last year of Morton High School.
