Country singers became movie stars, presidents proudly wore cowboy hats, television featured country specials, fancy boots and hats became a symbol of stature — all this marked the school year of 1981. It was the year of the “Urban Cowboy” and everyone was getting into the act — even Morton. We donned boots and cowboy hats for “Country Western Day” during Spirit Week, used the country western theme “Look- ing For Love” during prom, and got to see the movies “Trinity Is Still My Name” at Christ- mas and “Urban Cowboy” during prom. In an effort to catch the country fever, our 1981 annu- al uses a country theme based upon our favorite country songs done by various artists — Oak Ridge Boys, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Dolly Parton, etc. Go ahead, turn the page and let our “Country Roads” take you back to yes- terday once more.
