She is unique in that she has the rare combination of ability to inspire and extreme patience. Combine this with the genuine care and concern for her students and you have the teacher we have known and loved for so long. She has not only achieved recognition from her students but also from her fellow teachers. To her we dedicate our yearbook, with heartfelt thanks and our best wishes for the future. Tom Gallery received the Boys' Athlete of the year and Mary Beth Bidinger the Girls' Athlete of the year awards. Sandy Scheffler was twice honored receiving the Rob- ert Bucholz music award and the National Indian Honors Band award. NancySperl received the Robert Pfeiffer award for scholar- ship, service and character. Stu- dent Council Pres. Chris Lussenhop congratulated the 1978-1979 vlce- pres. Lisa Tisdell. The Banquet was held at the Rocks Inn in Morton. Ham and Roast Beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and beverages were served. Then it was off to the grand march held in the Morton auditorium. Music was provided by The Entertainers. Walking Tall was the movie shown at the Falls Theatre after the dance for all the prom-goers. Breakfast was served by the Junior mothers. Fund raisers, sponsoring the X-Mas dance, serving at Prom and order- ing class rings are some of the projects that kept the Sophomore class busy through-out the year. The Junior class had a super busy year. One of their first projects was decorating for the Homecom- ing dance. To raise money for the prom, they spent a fun-filled(?) day working at Green Giant, and sponsored a magazine drive. With the help of their advisors, Mr. Picka and Miss Hinz, they spon- sored a very successful prom; with the theme Here Comes the Sun. The Entertainer provided the music. They made several trips to the Franklin Nursing Home, Sum- mer Camp, a Chapter campout at Birch Coulee, Painting the con- cession stand, selling caramel ap- ples, sponsoring the Sweetheart Ball. They had a FHA Week which included Kiss Day, Slave Day, Red White Day, and Dress Up Day. To end the year they had a Mother-Daughter Tea at which time awards are handed out and new officers are installed. This was a very dedicated group. They published a weekly flyer of the area news and also a monthly school paper. Fan support was big and team talent was abundant as Mor- ton met Deer Creek in the play- offs. Although Morton didn't come out on top of this game, they had a fulfilling season as they brought back to Morton, the conference trophy and a winning football spir- it. Greg Serbus was named All-Area and All-State Defensive Player. This brought the girls into the semi-finals where they fell at the hands of 2nd seeded Franklin. Mary Bidinger was the 1977-78 Minnesota Girls Basketball scoring leader with 672 points for the sea- son. She was selected to the Class A All-State Girls Basketball team. After a fine showing at the district meet, the girls sent representatives in the 220 yard dash, 440 yard dash, 880 yard run, long jump, and 440 relay on to regions.
