Gloria Gaasch Crowned The Annual FHA Sweetheart Dance was held on Febru- ary 8, 1974 in the high school auditorium. The doors opened to a swarm of finely groomed students at 7:30 p. m. The girls who were nominated as queen candidates were: Mary Ann Mahoney, Debbie Serbus, Jill Robin- son, Nancy Menz, Gloria Gaasch, Mary Halliday, Deb Wolter, and Betty Sullivan. Of these eight all Morton students who attended the dance voted for three. At 8:30 coronation began as Mary Anderson announced the 1973 queen, Janice Goblirsch and her escort, George Paul. Following them were the candidates and their escorts. Finally the big moment arrived! Janice walked over to get the envelope and the crown. After a couple twirls around the candidates she placed the crown on Gloria Gaasch s head. Following the coronation was the dance with music provided by the record player. Many kids attended and the floor was packed. A lunch of punch and cake came at 9:30. The dance concluded around 11:00. 10
