Included on these pages is a record of the school year 1971-1972 as it progressed through the seasons. Dedication We, the Seniors of 1972 would like to dedicate our annual, The Tomahawk to Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Weilage. With the help of your assistance and kindness, we were able to achieve many activities otherwise without your help it would not have been possible. Of course we will not forget the times the Youth Center was open to the students after basketball games. We thank you Mr. and Mi's. Weilage. To all the parents of the seniors, we thank you Very much for everything. We are very fortunate to have parents who care enough about us to prepare a breakfast after prom and an.athletic banquet, in which students really appreciated it. We can not put in words how much all of this meant to us. We’ve only just begun to live . . . white lace and promises, a kiss for luck and we’re on our way. We’ve only just begun. Before the rising sun, we fly. So many roads to choose, we start out walking and learn to run . . . And yet, we’ve just begun. Sharing horizons that are new to us, watching the signs along the way, talking it over, just the two of us, working to- gether, day to day . . . Together. And when the evening comes, we smile. So much of life ahead, we’ll find a place where there’s room to grow . . . And yes we’ve just begun. Some will be furthering their edu- cation, some will have jobs, and still others will be defending our country. Even though our class is relatively small, we believe it is one to be proud of. As you can see, we have tried to make this annual different, we hope you all enjoy it as omuch as we have putting it together. During the past years, we have come to know and appreciate the friendship of many students of M.H.S., we will miss you all. To the class of 73, we wish you all the very best of luck. Good Bye. Most of these, as you will find out in this report, are not much better off than they were then, of course, no one expected too much of them as none of them were too bright to begin with! Mary Mahlum seems to have changed her Jiame to Carolyn West and is traveling from school to school giving assemblies on her folk piano. Her assistant is Chris Angermeyr who keeps rhythm on an empty gord and Larry Bethke stands by tapping his foot. Mike Caven sits in the audience enjoying the entire thing. He has been principal of Morton High School since 1981 when he was expelled from medical school because of overpopulating the Chemistry Lab with 300,000 rats!! However, Mike was not expelled, before he could invent his cure for stunted growth, which Robbie Marguth gladly accepted and is now 6'8 tall and really coming up in the world. Debbie Ruhland is now the proud owner of the greasy spoon pre- viously called the hi-way cafe . The place has been jaxxed up quite a little with Donna Simning as one of the many go-go girls. Paul U'Ren has taken over his father's business of selling mobile homes, and has his main headquarters in the suburbs of the booming metropolis of Bechyn, Minnesota which has grown from a population of 35 to 7,000!!! Paul's sidekick is Jeff Lund who sells snowmobiles and repairs go-carts in his spare time. Dale Serbus seems to have finally settled down, and lives here in Bechyn in one of the town's original structures. Dale has decided against marriage and is now one of Bechyn's five priests. He says that he kind of likes the feeling of being called Father Serbus. Bob Gallery and Nadine Hanson are both the sizzling new sensations in Hollywood's jet set...they are starring in the new hit movie The Flame and the KLower produced and directed by Leamon Butch Evans, the millionare playboy. When we asked Bob how he enjoyed the life of a movie star he said, It's a drag man! In answer to the same question Nadine replied that their was absolutely no truth to the rumor that she and Bob were engaged to be married. When we. finally found Harry Weilage running the elevator in the Radison Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico and asked him what ever happened .to the brilliant young politician he had hoped to become, he replied and I quote, Let me say this about that. We immediately turned to leave and heard him yelling Let me make this peftectly clear, and starting to recite the Gettysberg Address.. After a long and tiresome recurity check we were allowed to see Stan and Steve Lothert and Gary and David Dehncke who were to be the first brothers to walk on Mars, We asked them what they would do or say when they got there, and they showed us this cute little dance step Jackie Crooks had worked out for them when she was on her coffee break i after a good three hours work trying to teach Captain Kangaroo's dancing bear how to do this classy new kick she had worked up! Moving on to tat lush paradise in South East Asia we found Mike Rebstock in a lovely garden amongst the pheasants! We asked him why his hair was so short and he told us that he had taken a very difficult test and done very well and do he and a few more lucky winners won this 82 expense-free tour of duty in this tropical paradisel In other words...he has been draftedI We asked Mike how he liked the Army, and he. said it was an experience of a lifetime. Dick Sindelir is now living in Aberdeen South Dakota and runs a huge chain of gas stations appropriately named Sindelir's 66 stations. Dick is no longer the station attendant of yester-year, however... he has climbed the ladder of success and now has his own private, personal secretary!!! And who else could the charming, talented, loving wonderful person be but the one and only Miss Jean Sullivanl We asked Jean how she liked working with Dick and she said it was an experince of a lifetime. We then asked Dick how he liked working with Jean and he said it was an experiece of a lifetime! After three shake-downs, two complete searches, and several other examinations of one type or another, we finally got to the gate of Jeff Biding- er's huge, elaborate, super-neat mansion. Unfortuneatly, the gate is three miles from the house and we went through two attacks from blood-hounds and several more searches before Susie Kuglin-Jeff's new bride-finally recognized our lovely faces and allowed us to enter the magnicivent 5-story structure. We asked Jeff how he had ever gotten so wealthy and he said that he never could have made it without John Deere! We asked Susie how she and Jeff had gotten together, and she said they fell in love at a combined cheerleader and machinery convention!!! Unfortuneatly, we found Bob Dawson. He was in the deep jungles of Africa sitting on a hollow log, trying to teach a young native boy how to play Pro- cession of the Nobles on the tympanni. We asked him if there was any danger of being attacked by wild animkLs and he replied, It's as safe as The Streets of Athens. Our final interview was with Dianne Kinney, and this promised to be some- thing else! We had quite a bit of trouble getting into her bffice to see her as she has a job of much importance in the government, in fact, she haw been elected the first woman President of the United States and we were told we could not see her because she was having an important conference with the head of the Department of the Interior, but we were given an appointement for 3:00 that afternoon. When we finally got to talk to her we naturally asked her what the conference she had'had that morning was all about and she said that it was all a mistake— she had thought that Department of the Interior meant that it was the same as interior decorator and she wanted to have the white house redec- orated. In short we would like to conclude by saying that the Morton Seniors of 1972 may have grown older, but they haven't gotten any wiser. 83 PEARSON S RED OWL Olivia, Minnesota FARMERS UNION INSURANCE Jerry Sullivan Morton, Minnesota RENE MARGUTH SON Morton, Minnesota Phone 697-6923 “Better Known for Better Sales” FRANKLIN LOCKER SERVICE Franklin, Minnesota BEN FRANKLIN Redwood Falls, Minnesota GTA ELEVATOR Morton Minnesota 84 THE HILL-TOP Morton, Minnesota H H MOTOR CO.
