Philharmonic Hall first unit of New York’s projected Lincoln Center for Performing Arts, opened in a blaze of light. Steeple at Oregon State College of Edu- cation , Monmouth, Oregon, fell before hur- ricane-force winds which raked the West Coast in October causing major damage and communication breakdown.
