ur sjweafor STUMBLING On September 2, 1949, 50 scared and trembling Freshmen approached Broadbent High. We were duly initiated on September 29 and were honored with a dance given by the Sophomores, After that memorable day was past the Freshmen felt right at home and we began to enjoy our first high school year by giving a return dance for the Sophs. The Frosh were well represented in many activities such as athletics, yell- leading, song leading, and activity clubs. Altogether we spent a very exciting year. Class officers were Dick Goodwin, Presidentg Tony Bristol, Vice-President, Dianne Vipond, Secretary and Treasurer, Teddy Tetherow, Student Council Representative. Class advisors were Mrs. Long and Mr, Loete. I'LL GET BY This year the Sophomores, our number now decreased to 46, walked back to school with a surer step, Our first project was the Freshman initiationg and that over with, we celebrated with a dance. ' The Sophomores showed much school spirit in sports, dances, song leading, and cheer leading. . . .in short, in almost all school activities. Class officers elected this year were Tony Bristol, Presidentg Dick Goodwin, Vice-Presidentg Lorraine Dietzel, Secretary and Treasurerg Dwayne Loden, Student Council Representativeg Richard Sparkman, Sergeant at Arms, Class advisors were Mrs, Winsberg and Mr. Roberts, STAIRWAY TO THE STARS Enrollment of the Class of '53 took a plunge that year, down to 41 Juniors. Blue Moon was the unusual theme chosen by the Junior class for the annual Senior Ball. The hall was decorated appropriately with soft blue lights and romantic silhouettes. As upper classmen that year the Junior class looked forward to their Senior year in dearly beloved Broadbent High. Again the Junior class was well represented in all school activities. That year's officers were Tony Bristol, Presidentg Dwayne Loden, Vice-President, Dianne Vipond, Secretary and Treasurer, Dick Goodwin, Sergeant at Arms, Lloyd Harris, Student Council Representative. Class advisors for the year were Miss Truvedson and Mr. Beller. , fContinued on page 603 This page sponsored by STATE BANK OF MORTON Morton, Washington 6

B. A. , University of Washingtong Eastern Washington College of Education: Washington State College. A school consists of two principal groups, students and teachers. Only when the two work together in a friendly and understanding atmosphere does the school become what is commonly termed a good school, Together we have been moving in the right direction. Without the cooperation of the students this would not have been possible. We have a good school. Such progress, however, must be a continuing process, We either must move ahead or we will slip back. It is my hope that we may con- tinue to work together in the deve pment o n ven better school, Miwfiffzw Ml' 262 EIU Again, in my opinion, our school has made steady progress, Thanks to all your help. It has been our sincere endeavor to make t e high school a good school, A school in which you could learn the essential things. We hope that you have enjoyed this year as much as we have enjoyed in- structing you, and we also hope that you will look upon our school with pride that will grow as each year passes.
