Cfom .jskaiorg Chapter I OUR HEARTS WERE YOUNG AND GAY Entering Morton High in the fall of '49 we were 73 very green freshmen properly awed and impressed by the nonchalance of the upperclassmen. We had that well, here-we- are-at-1ast felling, but after the first frightening week, gone forever were all thoughts of grade school days. We were duly initiated on Thursday, September 30, by the sophomores, but they made up for the unpleasantness by honoring us with a dance. We returned the honor the fol- lowing week. Our able class advisors were Miss Noonan and Mr. Lore. Officers elected were Gary Coleman, President: John Vipond, vice-President, Loma McLeod, Secretaryg Ramona Tappan, Treasurerg Claudette Muir, Sergeant-at-Armsg and June Mills, Student Coun- cil Representative. We entered into the many activities of high school readily, joining clubs, teams, and yell staff, giving dances and altogether having an exciting year. Chapter II GROWING UP We officially launched our activity-packed year with the freshmen initiation which was traditional with a capital Tl We sophomores were well represented in sports, dan- ces, and other activities and organizations. The Class of '52 numbered now 53. We lost no time electing our year's officers: Gary Coleman, President: Ken McCurdy, Vice-President, June Mills, Secretary, and Loma McLeod, Treasurerg John Vipond, Student Council Representative, and Gary Danley, Sergeart-at-Arms. With the help of our ever-patient advisors, Miss Allen and Mr. Roberts, the sophomores had a very exciting year. We greatly anticipated being called Upperclassmen. CContinued P.62, A 10

Firstly, to the student body, we will leave our hog slopin ' clothes, our battered and tom books, and the not so sane faculty. Secondly, to Mr. Carle, we leave afixed title, Square Deal, Thirdly, to Mr. Olsen, we leave the knowledge of how to run and control a rowdy class and also a hundred tardy and absent slips to prove how good our attendance was. Fourthly, to the Juniors, we leave the school knowing it's on its way to the dogs. Fifthly, to the Sophomores, we leave the knowledge that they will be upperclassmen next year. Sixthly, to the Frosh class, we leave all our meanness, ability to get straight A's and a penny, hoping they will soon become millionairs. Seventhly, to be cherished by the receivers and cared for as their own, the individual seniors do bequeath the following: I Dick Bagley will my smooth typing ability to fpeck, peckj Bernard. I Vonne Allen will my love for the Brooklyn Dodgers to any Yankee fan. We Earl and Louis Carbaugh will our loud ways to'Don and Arnold Christian. I Geraldine Boyd will my ability to chew gum to anyone who can make as much noise. I Orville Clevenger leave to answer the call of the wild. I Edith Brewster will fourth period library to anyone who can stand it. I Gary Coleman will my beard to Bob Lockhart. We-Lila Coston and Claudette Muir will our ability to gripe to Dia'nne Vripend and Mary Lou Lacy. To the next year letterman I Gary Danley leave Harry Potter number two. To Arlene S joblom, I Marleen Cramer will my ability to out talk anyone. I Douglass Darby will my colorful nicknames to Allen Clevenger. I Velma Gillispie will my ambition to anyone who has as many varied jobs as I have. To all the girls in Morton High School, I George Engle, will my love. As I do not care to Leave John to any High School girl, IDorothy Goodwin will take himwith me. I Thomas Eyle will my politenesstto Eddy Wilson. I Frances Hamilton will my dreams of a Cadillac to anyone who will make the down payment for me. I Wayne Harting will my rowboat to Dwayne Loden so he can take his girl a-courtin' . To Beverly Coty, I Juanita Hanger will my height because she'll need some kind of protection. I Wayne Hofmann will Morton High School to Jack DeLong because it isn't big enough for me and him. I Dorothy Knittle will my love for Cyril to anyone who thinks she can get it. To Richard S joblom, I Don Howlett will my quaint, peaceful laugh. I Gayle Lloyd will locker number I2 to Shirley Riffe. I Ralph Looney will to Larry Scott my little ears. I Lila McHenry will my ability to disrupt a class to anyone who can do a good job.
