The selection of Boys ' State Representatives is based on school service. Each year a faculty committee chooses someone to represent Mortimer Jordan High School in a statewide program. Boys ' State is designed to educate high school students in the privileges and responsibilities of being an American citizen. The representatives actually participate in the functioning of the Government. The representatives this year went to Samford. Those representatives are Steve Hooper, Keith Miller, and Greg Melvin. 12

Outstanding Leaders The students chosen for the Mr. and Miss MJHS title receive one of the highest honors a student can achieve while in high school. The faculty has the responsibility of choosing Mr. and Miss Mortimer Jordan High School from a ballot of nominees. These students must have the qualities of good character, leadership, scholarship, service and enthusiasm for their school. The young man who was best qualified for Mr. MJHS was Mike Myers.
