Our school was founded in 1920 It was named for Captain Mortimer Harvie Jordan, who lost his life in World War l. He was a soldier officer and physician He resigned his commission as Captain Surgeon on the 1st Battalion Field Artillery, Alabama National Guard and elected to lead a rifle com pany in some of the World War l's hardest fighting. He was wounded in action and died July 31 1918 in France His remains are entombed at Arlington National Cemetery near our Nation's Capitol.
