O j ' f CR098 COUNTRY The Cross Country team had a very successful season. It finished fourth in the major league. This is quite an ac- complishment since this was the 1st year they competed in cross country. Because the entire team will be re- turning next year, the season should be fairly successful. The outstanding runner of the team was Bob Novoa who set a course record in every race he ran. ROW 1: Mike McGrath, Dennis Lamb, Cory Powell, Mike Rynne. ROW 2: Coach Maramonte, Danny Elmore, Dennis Rynne, Fred Schlitz, Bob Novoa . . . TRACK Led by Ken Osborn, hurdler; Dennis Rynne, middle distance runner; and Bob Novoa, Distance runner, the Morro Bay Pirates Track Team came in 4th in the league. The wrestling team placed fourth in league competition this year, winning two matches, tying one, and losing nine. At the Cal Poly Tourna- ment they placed 3rd. Mike Kishiyama was the top man of the season, winning 12, typing 2, and losing 3. Fortunately for the team all letter- men will be returning next year while many leagues will lose some of their good men at graduation.

GOLF TEAM Formed early this year, the golf team consists of six 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. The team has played 10 games this season losing only twice to Bakersfield and East Bakersfield High Schools. Top scorer was Walter Parks. FRONT ROW: Walter Parks, Jim Leiser. BACK ROW: Walt Nowa- kowski, Mike Rowell, Marc Cunningham . . . THE SWIM TEAM All this year the swim team worked hard on synchronized swimming under the instruction of Mrs. Selkirk, Mrs. Jack Jones, and Mrs. Williams. Having perfected their talents in water ballet, they put on a show for the public at the end of the year. Also highlighting this year were the new swim suits which are royal blue and very becoming.
