For many of you it symbolizes both a beginning and an endg an end to your years of formal education and a beginning to that much longer time during which the judgment, understanding, and skills you have acquired will be called upon to assist you toward a life worth living. As students of State University of New York you have profited from the learning, encouragement, and inspiration of a fine and dedicated faculty. As you go into the world, with you go their hopes and mine that your association will prove to have been both profitable and pleasant, and that you will look back upon your collegiate years with a sense of having dis- covered the joy of learning and the satisfaction of personal fulfillment. We watch you leave with regret and with pride. May you find the success 'and happiness you deserve.

Deep in our hearts we hold many pleasant memories of these two years-memories of dormitory life, Alumni Weekend, dances, and the wonderful friends we have made. In this book we will try to bring back many of these memories for you. With our theme, Pathways, we hope to compile for you a picture of our campus life and some of the experiences we have enjoyed here. I wish to thank everyone for his cooperation in helping make possible our yearbook, the Arcadian for 1960.

X ROYSON N. WHIPPLE. M.S. Presidenl. Morrisrfille Agriclzllurai and Teclmiml Inrlitlzle PRESIDE 'S MESSAGE As we trace the, pathways of America's history, it is apparent that our greatest possession today is our nation's traditions. Surely no people of any other country have been trustees of so great a heritage as have we in America. As it has been in the past, America's traditions and freedom are severely threatened today by ruthless men and nations. It will be the duty of your generation to fight for the survival of our'way of life. It is hoped that in great measure you may feel fortified to meet your problems as a result of your contacts and education at Morrisville. The in- formation you have acquired, the method of study, and the practices you have followed here are all important, yet are secondary to the character strength you have developed. Always use your abilities to full advantage and increase your strength constantly so that you may be able to do your part to maintain our traditions in the future. X
