ROBERT MORRIS V 0)1 name Twenty PuLlisked ky tike Class of 1958 Mornsvi lie Higk Sck ool 3 Foreword! Music is often referred to as the international language in that it is easily understood by people of all ages, races and creeds. For this reason we have selected it as our theme in the hope that it will help us draw a more complete and realistic picture of our senior year. Twenty years ago a senior class published the ROBERT MORRIS for the first time. Since that very important occasion every graduating class has made its own special goal the publication of a yearbook just a little bigger and better than its predecessors. This too has been our aim. He taught our classes, coached our teams and patiently helped us as we learned to drive. He was always a friend and a gentleman and we, the Class of 1958, are privileged to dedicate our yearbook in his honor. Ever Cjt rowmi M omsville H lgk Sckool — In 1892 the Morrisville Board of Education opened the borough’s first high school in what was known as the Chambers Street School. Prior to this date it was necessary for all students who wished a high school education to com- mute each day to Trenton High School. The popularity of the new local school grew rapidly and soon it became evident that the building was much too small. For this reason the William E. Case School was erected on West Bridge Street and opened in 1894. 10 1892 195 9 Proposed —A Look m tke F iituire Again the school proved too small and so in 1924 a third high school was built — this was the large and modern Robert Morris School. In 1927 a wing was added to the high school and another wing and a gymnasium were added in 1930. And still the community and its schools have continued to grow. The high school is overcrowded and half sessions have become a necessity. To meet the current problem the plans shown above have been drawn and a fourth high school is planned for 1959- The grandstand and (below) gate of the Robert Morris Athletic Field. cenes m tike M orris vi iJie Scliool District The Capitol View Elementary School in the Third Ward. The Manor Park Elementary School located in the Fourth Ward. The William E. Case Elementary School on West Bridge Street was once used by the borough as a high school. The new Grandview Elementary School shown here as it neared completion was built in the western section of Morrisville to accommodate many of the children who live in that recently developed area. 6 6 Our Junior Prom was held Friday evening, May 11, 1957, in the school auditorium. This was our final social event before becoming seniors and the dance was well at- tended by seniors, juniors and underclassmen. 14 May we see your tickets, please? The prom committee final meeting at the Paradise The committee in charge of the prom selected Almost Par- adise” for its theme and a special feature of the decora- tions was a beautiful fountain which flowed throughout the dance. To these men, therefore, will go the task of providing Morrisville with a new and modern high school. Dick has always been a part of the Class of 1958 but, because of a personal misfortune, could not join us this year. With the help of some of our teachers, however, Dick has been able to keep up with his work and hopes to graduate with us in June. Helen joined us this year from Pennsbury High School. Her pretty face and personality to match have helped make her many friends here at Morrisville. We hope she realizes her ambition and becomes a secretary. Betty came to us this year from Lambertville High School. She loves a good time, has a keen sense of humor and is always ready for a good laugh. She does well in her studies, likes people and will make a wonderful nurse. 87 Best Athletes Ev Foster Barbara Petrik Poll Best Looking Donnie Marrazzo Pat Salt Senior Friendliest Bill Roberts Judy Preston Best Dressed Bill Roberts Barbara Solan 88 Most Popular Pete Allison Donna Slack Best All Around Barbara Petrik Pete Allison Biggest Flirts Yvonne Titles Buddy Roberts Nicest Smile Donna Slack Donnie Marrazzo Most Likely to Succeed Val Miller Warren Long Class Best Physique Ethel Tootell Bob Hart Most Talented Nancy Woolley Dale Habel 89 90 PROFESSIONAL PATRONS Dr. Theodore A.
