Thomas Jefferson was president of the United States. The United States was involved in the Tripolitan War. Lewis and Clark began their famous expedition. There were only seventeen states in the United States. Alexander Hamilton was killed dueling with Aaron Burr. The twelfth amendment to the Constitution was adopted. Franklin Pierce, who was to become the four- teenth president of the United States, was born. And- Morrisville became a borough of the state of Pennsylvania. This year Morrisville celebrates the 150th an- niversary of this important step in its history. Other publications will be distributed throughout the year to cover the complete story of Morrisville. The Senior Class, however, would like to do its- share in wishing our community a happy birthday and so we are developing the theme of our yearbook around the celebration. The Class of 1954 proudly dedicates its yearbook to one who has been a leader in education, culture and citizenship. On Horace M. Hutchison we are proud to confer this honor. He has developed our music department to the point where it is an important part of our school life and in doing so he has established himself as an outstanding leader in the field of music education. We have been fortunate to have had him as our class advisor and we will always remember him as a teacher, counselor and friend.
