Perhaps we were rather a disappointment to our Alma Mater in the dark ages of 1931-32. Seemingly lifeless, we did not even organize. However, there came a time when we recovered sufficiently from our inferiority to put one foot on the first step of the senior stairs. Then came the renaissance. Suddenly beneath our quietness a new spirit appeared. We spent our time not in electing class officials but in becoming acquainted with one another. As sophomores, we were not a bunch of people taking different courses, but rather a compact body welded together by friendships. Then we were ready for greater things. As juniors we showed our wisdom by selecting Mr. Lawrence jenkins as our adviser. Following this we elected our officers. School organizations profited greatly through members from our ranks. Athletics flourished. By this time we had really gained recognition, for we had made unusually high scholastic records, had produced more than one athletic hero, and had joined with the seniors in organizing a student council. Finally, the long-waited-for day came-the time when we should walk the coveted senior stairs with a free conscience. With it the junior-vs. senior scramblings commenced. It was our team work that prevented any disgraceful episodes. The fall found a football team composed mostly of seniors well on its way to recognition. The basketball team was one of which we are justly proud. The senior play really displayed what talent we possess. The cast's mar- vellous acting can hardly be forgotten, while the work of our commercial stu- dents and various committees made the affair a financial success. All in all, we believe that as seniors we have done our part, having partici- pated well in the musical organizations, the dramatics, sports, and other activi- ties of the school. With Graduation and the Senior Prom our stay is ended. We are prepared to enter the portals of higher learning and life. To our friends, the under classmen, we hand the reins. Our departure leaves a challenge-a chal- lenge to make more perfect the example we have tried to set.
