FOOTBALL The 1951 football season was ahighly successful one for the Morris Blue Devils as they again took the Moshannon Valley League Championship for the third time in the last four years. The Blue Devils did not lose a game until the season's final with Ridgeway,, although they were tied by Philipsburg, 0-0, in the second contest of the season. Coach Ventresco's team ran completely away from all league competition scoring 146 points while holding the opposition to just one touchdown. fOr an undefeated season was spoiled by the powerful Ridgeway where Morris lost by a 33 to 7 score. The outcome of the 1951 Football season is as follows: Houtzdale Philipsburg Reynoldsville C oooer 14-0' 0-0 31-6 ' 26-6 N Osceola Snowshoe Moshaxmon Joint Ridgeway The chance 18-0 55-0 A 33-o ' . qlgxl BASKETBALL The Morris basketball team of 1951-52, after a poor start, finally got rolling and at the time of this writing were tied for the league lead with the B. C. I. five, each team having lost one game. The overall season record showed five defeats as the Blue Devils came out on the short end of their first three starts. Coach Ventresco is confident that his boys can come through to tie B. C. I. for the title and then beat them in a playoff game on a neutral floor.
