FRESHMAN CLASS HISTORY The opening of the 1951-52 school term at Morris High brought with it 55 red faced, green freshmen who were beginning their high school careers. The auditorium was assigned to us as our home room with Mr. Schnars as class advisor. After a few weeks of confusion, we got on to the general routine and our class officers were elected as follows: President-Agnes Sudikg Vice-president -I ack Shannong Secretary-Dorothy Hooverg and Treasurer-Veronica Watro. A few weeks after we entered the portals of Morris High, we were initiated at a party given by the Sophomores. We freshmen, compelled to dress as Indians tughj to blend with our painted faces, had a fun-filled evening. Not to be outdone in hospitality, we freshmen, gave a return dance to the Sophomores. This was held in the school auditorium with music furnished by Miss Hill's record player. Being Freshmen was really getting us down, but sooner than one could snap his fingerg or so it seemed, Christmas was upon us, and we went on our long-needed vacation-a break from the lesson grind. But soon it was 1952, and we were back in school--back to the same routine. Among other activities, the Freshmen girls' class put out a newspaper as a class project, and a Freshman girl has submitted a poem entitled Spring to a verse writing contest conducted by the Classical League of America's organization, the Classical Outlook . Now that the first year has been spent with many happy hours, we, like Janus, the two-faced Roman god, look back at those happy times, and forward to three more years of happiness and learning in the hallowed hal1s of Morris High. In conclusion we do not know what the future will bring, but this we do lmow-- we shall be Sophisticated Sophomores next school term.
