Who never had to earn his share Of sun and sky and light and air Never became a man to dare. But lived and died as he began. Good timber doesn't grow at ease. The strongest wind, the tougher trees; The further sky, the greater length; The rougher storm, the greater strength; By wind and rain, by sun and snows In tree or man good timber grows. —Adapted life
