The Place To Be In 83 Morrisanian Morris Central School Morris, N.Y. 13808 Title Page—1 MORRIS CENTRAL SCHOOL: 2 Theme The PLACE TO BE IN '83 Theme—3 M.C.S. is a Place to Learn In our classes we are learning new and interesting things every day. We discover our interests in many areas; drama, computers, foreign languages, science and many oth- ers. We even had our own archeo- logical dig! 4—Theme Theme—5 6 Theme IN MEMORIUM Mark will always have a special place in the hearts of those who knew him. Anyone who came in contact with him remembers his remarkable personality and his joy in life. He raced through his days with an energy we all admired. Mark had a spontane- ous happiness which affected ev- eryone around him. He seemed to be able to bring humor into every situation. He gave of himself, and made our lives brighter. Mark left with us his determination, his unyielding in- terests, and his unending dreams. Let us remember our happy times with Mark, as he would have wanted us to. Mark Case 8—Memorium IN MEMORIUM We fondly remember Mrs. Luella Miller, a part of our school lives for eighteen years. She worked as an aide in the of- fice, the kindergarten, and the library. She often volunteered to chaperone school events and was always a smiling part of our school scene. She was an active sports enthusiast and could often be found rooting for our teams at games. She possessed a truly youthful spirit and sense of fun. Remember when she dressed up along with the kids for greaser day? Most of all, she seemed to really like us and believe in us and, in turn, was loved by all. Mrs. Luella Miller Memorial—9 DEDICATION We, the 1983 Yearbook Staff dedicate our yearbook to a lovely lady who taught most of us in First Grade: Mrs. Dutcher. Mrs. Dutcher has taught at Mor- ris Central School for seventeen years. Most of these years she has taught first grade. This year she taught Kindergarten. We all have fond memories of one of our favorite teachers. Remember all the times when we would get too noisy and she would patiently remind us that we did not need to yell to be heard ? No one will forget her quiet manner and her never-end- ing patience. She guided us through our beginnings at M.C.S. with a gentleness we will never forget. 10—Dedication Bottom: Mrs. Zeiner, Mrs. Douglas, Mrs. Torrey, Row two: Mrs. Weisburger, Mrs. Boggs, Mr. Holcomb, Mrs. Kroger, Miss Bassani Row three: Mrs. Haight, Mrs. Moscos, Mrs. Perkins Top: Mrs. Dixson, Mrs. Dutcher 11 Bottom: A. Mrs. Moskos is the lucky teacher and we are the lucky 4th-5th combination. The fourth grade is busy learning spell- ing and history which they'll need later. This year we'll also learn how to play the recorder. While the fourth grade is out making music the fifth grade is out exploring all the trees in the Morris area. What fun! We're not little kids anymore, and we're looking forward to Jr. High. We have a lot of responsibility being on Safety Patrol. We make sure the younger children get to school safely. Some of us are very busy in band and chorus, but we can always find time to talk to a friend, or share a laugh on the playground. We look forward to our trip to Washington in May, and all the new friends we'll meet. For this year, sixth grade is the place to be in 83. We are at the top of it all. We've reached our goal that we knew we would someday reach. Way back at the start of school, we thought to become a SENIOR, we would have to perform some sort of miracle. We thought the day would never come when we would say, This is it. I have reached the top of it all. The struggle became less than we anticipated. It was just a day to day, simple accomplishment. Some of us reached for stars far from us, and success was ours. For some, we reached a goal that would lead to the stars, just one step at a time, and we knew success. Whatever our dream, we kept it. Now, the top of it all is here. We are now realizing the top which we had dreams of in our youth, is just the bottom, the beginning of life. We look to the future with hopes and dreams and confidence. We made it to the top of it all once, we can make it to the top of it all again. AT THE TOP OF IT ALL Dave gets into his work Pat and Mandy in SERIOUS discussion Jennifer will take your picture, too. THE PLACES WE'VE BEEN The gym. The cafeteria. The locker room. The CLASSROOM, (ugh) The stage. The OFFICE. (Don't remind us) These are just some of the places we've been for the past thir- teen years. The gym sometimes seems like home. We started going to the dances when Safety Patrol would have a record hop in sixth grade. We can't forget all the sports and our Senior Prom in the gym. The classrooms, though, here at M.C.S. gave us the access to all the other places. At times, we hated that one room, and the next day we loved it. We've grown and changed because of the places we've been Whopper beat the Big Mac Would the Queen please step forward? If I don't get this right, NO ONE will Louie arc TOGETHER Oh no! Wrong again! What a smile! Get it, Patti! THE PLACES WE'RE GOING Today is moving so fast that we hardly have time to think about tomorrow. But, we do think about our dreams, fears and hopes. We know that there is a world out there just waiting for us. M.C.S. has given us the opportunity to look ahead. We've had to face the realities that soon we will be on our own. Some of us have decided to enter the business world. Some are furthering our education. Some will be entering the service. Whatever we de- cide to do, we know that we will give it our all. We will know success, and we will be a part of this new world. Of all the places there are to be, we are looking forward to the places we're going. Rah! Cindy, RAH! Terry and Lisa in a traditional pose Jeanette, try opening the book! Lori Treiber OUR PLACE We have heard it all, how we need to dream and reach for goals. It seems that every time one of us would dream, it was daydreaming in the middle of class, and Mr. Stafford or Mrs. Rogers would quickly call us back to class. But, despite the complaints from our teachers, we still managed to dream. Our dreams of the future are filled with greatness, success, happi- ness and love. We know that one day, we will be able to become all we really want to be. Here at M.C.S., we realize that becoming a senior affords us the luxury of dreaming and then the freedoms to follow them. As we reach our senior year, we begin to look at ourselves more realistically. We also begin to look at our dreams more realistically. We are given the responsibilities to try and make our dreams come true. It is through this freedom that we become aware of our limita- tions and our abilities. We become aware that M.C.S. and our senior year has given us the chance to follow our dreams. i “Vi n. OUR DREAMS We gottcha, Carol! Two pica too many, Paul! TO FOLLOW What a bunch of . . . FRIENDS Get off MY CASE!! Yes, Jim, that's your locker. Seniors—41 Jaci's best friend! A PLACE AWAY FROM HOME 42 The prime purpose of the Rotary ex- change program is to promote international understanding. This is ac- complished by bringing young people from other countries to live and study in the United States, and to send youth from our community abroad. Each year the Morris Rotary Club encourages high school sophomores, juniors or seniors to apply for selection to the program. The student can also become a part of the action by being the encouraging fan, or, even more involved, by being a cheerleader. The Jocks at M.C.S. give it their all. Sometimes giving of themselves even involves suf- fering a broken bone or two, sprains, bruises, and bumps. But, ask any of the guys or girls who've spent time in the Emergency Room to check out the latest sport's injury , they'll say, It's worth it. Trey and Soccer. One and the same. Come on. THE BEST PLACE TO BE IN '83 We've walked these familiar halls many times. We know all the rooms by heart. It's almost like home. As we close the book on another year and yearbook, we must admit that there is some sadness in endings. There is sadness in knowing that the seniors won't be walking these familiar halls next time we meet. We'll all change and grow a little older. This year at Morris Central School ends, but we know that MCS was the place to be in '83!! 96—Farewell V
