MORRISANIAN 1981 THESE ARE OUR STUDENTS Posterity upon, the school is hurled: The late, the tousle-head,, the tightly curled, The fat, the thin, the impertinent, the shy. The failure, and the darling who ranks high; The black, the white, the brown, the golden-haired. The always ready and the unprepared; The timid and the quiet and the loud. The earnest and the docile and the proud. On art, on business, or on beauty bent; For clothing trades or foods the parents sent The pretty and the homely and the sad. The sick, the disobedient, the too glad. The bold, the sleepy-eyed, the sweater-clad. The sweet and the demure, the especially clean. The playful, the athletic, the young queen. The little and the tall, the spoiled, neglected. Here's every phase of family life reflected. These are our joys and troubles, you perceive. These are our students; may they stay, not leave. Prudence M. Veatch, Buffalo. Education Journal,New York State Education, February, 1952.
